about the doors
Stonetown in Zanzibar is famous for it's 19th century doors through
which the wealthy families expressed their importance and prestige.
As Stonetown used to be a melting pot of cultures you may find influences
from many different countries.
about the series
for this series the idea was to banish all "artistic"
ambition in order to get photos focused on the incredible work of
the artisans, therefore that methodical approach of the series.

the concern about getting as much details of the doors made it necessary
to work with medium and large format film.
