about the series
Phnom Kulen has been a sacred place for the Khmer people for more than
thousand years.
Here, in the river bed of the Kbal Spean, hundreds of lingams have been
sculpted in the rock.
For families from Phnom Penh and other parts of Cambodia, this is a
popular place to spend their free time, especially during the holiday
of the Cambodian New Year mid April, during which the water has a strong
symbolic meaning.

In the recent temple near the Kbal Spean river, a snake is supposed
to be the reincarnation of a Phnom Penh citizen, which, after having
tried to join his family under his new "identity", has finally
accepted the status of holy animal in the temple.
